Abstract

This study entitles “Contribution of Abd Al-Ra’uf Al-Singkili in hadith: an analysis of the selected text of al-MawÉ‘iÐ al-BadÊ’ah”. The ultimate aims of this study is to analyze one of Al-Singkilis’ work on hadith entitles “MawÉ‘iÐ al-BadÊ’”. The study consists of six chapters. First chapter is an introduction upon this study. Second chapter is the biography of Abd Al-Ra’uf Al-Singkili. Third chapter is the introduction of MawÉ‘iÐ al-BadÊ’. Forth chapter is an analysis of the methodology of arranging and writing hadith on MawÉ‘iÐ al-BadÊ’. Fifth chapter is critical edition of the selected jawis’ text of MawÉ‘iÐ al-BadÊ’. Sixth chapter is conclusion. Two methods employ on this study, firstly is a historical analysis and secondly is the philology. While the first method applied for looking for the contribution of Al-Singkili in hadith and the second method applied for looking for the essence of MawÉ‘iÐ al-BadÊ’, elaborating a methodology of writing hadith on it and purposing a critical edition of a selected jawi’s text. Finally, this study found that Abd Al-Ra’uf Al-Singkili has given a great contribution in hadith, especially in writing of hadith. Such was that case proven from his views on hadith as the ultimate resources of knowledge after Al-Qur’an. Furthermore, Al-Singkili also has written two books in hadith. One of his works is MawÉ‘iÐ al-BadÊ’, which is written as al-targhÊb wa al-tarhÊb method.
