Abstract

Performing the prayer (solat) is the second commandment in Islam after uttering the syahadah. It is the bollard for all religious worship in Islam for its state as a religion mast. It acts as armour against any wrong deed towards Allah SWT. People begin to question the efficacy of prayer by Muslims due to the diminished morality witnessed nowadays. Thus, this research was conducted to observe the adaptation of prayer among the students of TATi University College, Kemaman, Terengganu. This research focuses on the intellectual group that were identified as a ‘Mukallaf’, due to the Islamic prospect that was shown on them. In addition, this research also includes an analysis of their early education background, and their origin, to see whether this affects the prayer adaptation in their life or not. The methodology for this research uses field research such as questionnaires, interviews and observations amongst the students. All in all, this research proves that students of TATiUC, as shown by 90% of the respondents, have a very good basic knowledge of prayer. However, only 36 % are really concerned with the prayer’s adaptation and really consistent in fulfilling them five times a day, to comply with Islamic law.
