Abstract

The Exegesis Methodology of Sheikh Muhammad Idris Al-Marbawi in his Tafsir Quran Marbawi. This research is concerned with Qur’anic exegesis of Sheikh Muhammad Idris Al-Marbawi’s books. In Malaysia he was almost recognized scholar in Arabic Language and hadith then Qur’anic exegesis and Malay Community through his valuable dictionary, Kamus al-Marbawi. Through this research, the writer will introduce the author to the public and Malay world that he is a scholar in Qura’anic exegesis and available to write a book in those field. The writer attempts to study al-Marbawi’s skills in various methods in order to develop his own methodology of Quranic interpretation  based on his strengths of understanding the Quran. In the course of carrying out this research, the writer used two way; firstly, through field research in collecting materials and books related. Secondly, through library research during gathering all informations related to al-Marbawi includes the interviews with his son in law and those who were thought to be able to give useful information regarding him. The whole methods of al-Marbawi has been examined by researcher by analyzing the findings gathered from various. Finally it can be concluded that he is a scholar in Qur’anic exegesis and his book as a main reference in studies of tafsir.
