Abstract

This study is a study of a style in Arabic language which is used for the purpose of stating denials and refusals. The author feels obliged to delve deeper into the study of this particular linguistic style for the purpose of introducing and providing comprehension accuracy when constructing negative sentences in both writing and speaking. The chosen title; “Syntaxis Analysis In Negation Language Style Of The Al- An‘a:m Sura” is aimed at introducing the various styles of expressing denials and refusals and to provide textual evidences of correct usages of the language style through the syntaxis analysis of the Al-An‘a:m sura. Of the 165 verses, 81 verses utilize this language style. Of those 81 verses, there are 126 occurances where utilization of negative particle. Here the “” particle dominates, constituting 51%, followed by the “” particle constituting 32%. This particular language style that frequently surfaces is in the present tenses.This is due to the fact that the narrations and the descriptions refer to the present events. Other denial and refusal particles used refer to reasons and motives of why they are used other than the time it surfaces and the audiences it is targeted to as well as the particular structure of negative sentences construction. The delivery of this language style as used in the verse is also aimed at demonstrating the greatness of God, to provide reminders, warnings and emphasis, to state reproaches and contempts, to explain ambiguity and differences and etc.The use of this particular language style thus evoke profound effects on the hearts and souls of humans towards the Creator, the Almighty.
