Abstract

This dissertation aim to discuss the rule and the responsibility of Christian's priests especially from the Catholic's point of views. Therefore, they were compared to the role and the responsibility of ulama in Islam. This dissertation contains five chapter, and is preceeded by an introduction and ended by a conclusion. The Introductory part is a general discussion of the dissertation follows by the First Chapter that discusses about church and St. Peter as the pioneer of church institution. The Second Chapter elaborates the criteria of priests, Holy Orders, roles, privilege and prohibition of priest. The Third Chapter explains the status of priests as religious scholars who have relation with the Holy Spirit and have power on Christian followers. While, the Fourth Chapter highlights the concept of ulama in Islam and the Fifth Chapter which is the most important chapter analyses the comparison between priests and ulama and Islam's critic on it. This research ends with conclusion contains summaries of resolution and some proposals on the points which have been discussed earlier.
