Abstract

This dissertation research is to determine the position of hadith of akidah relating to divinity, prophethood and unseen matters in the book Aqidah at-Najin written by Syeikh Zain al-'Abidln bin Muhammad al-Fatani. Beside that, the research also explains the author's opinions and thoughts in debating the question of akidah. The first chapter explains the background of the writer's reseaarch about the matters related to the hadith and the book 'Aqidah at-Najin. The author's methodology in gaining authoritative information systematically and effectively is also included in this chapter. The second chapter introduces the hadith in term of its definition, types, developments and the position of Ahad hadith as an argument in the matter of akidah. The third chapter introduces the book Aqidah at-Najin i.e., its author, its methodology and its contents, also the classification of akidah's hadith. The fourth chapter elaborates the position of akidah's hadith in the question of divinity, prophethood and unseen. The takhrij hadith, had played its role in determining the sources of hadith. It also includes the opinions of ulama and members of hadith about the position of hadith whether it is accept as an argument or vice versa in their research upon the hadith. The final chapter, the writer makes his conclusion about the position of akidah's hadith in the book and other important discoveries which were found throughout the research. Some suggestions are made to the new generations in giving prestige and respect to the Islamic knowledge which was inherited from the previous generation of ulama.
