Abstract

Being in a stressful state is a common experience encountered by most people today. Various internal and external factors have been identified to have contributed to this state of mind. Toe purpose of this study is to determine the level of emotional stress experienced by a group of 70 teacher trainees in a teacher training college in Pahang. It also aims to determine the influence of three contributing factors to stress, namely, the training process, the socio psychological factors and the subjects perception towards teaching as a profession. In addition, the study hopes to establish whether there is a significant difference in the level of stress between gender and options. Calculation in terms of percentage was used to measure the level of stress experienced by the subjects and the factors contributing to stress. T test and ANOV A are used to measure the significant differences in stress level between gender and options. The results indicated that 14.2% of the subjects' are highly stressed, 74.4% experience moderate stress while 11 .4% experience little stress. There is no significant difference in stress level between male and female subjects as well as options.
