Abstract
This study discusses the mechanistic details of the cationic micellar transition (growth) in a mixed surfactant system. The aqueous mixed surfactant solution contains cationic micelles at a concentration greater than CMC (critical micelle concentration). These micelles yield a pseudophase of various viscoelastic behaviours. Effects of inert counterionic salts (MX) on the rates of bimolecular reactions (with one of the reactants as reactive counterion) in the presence of ionic micelles may result in either positive or negative catalysis. The kinetics of mixed cationic-noionic micellar-catalysed bimolecular reactions has been used as a probe in the report.
