Abstract
The effectiveness of da’wah through religious class or majlis taklim has caused the increase of religious knowledge and appreciation in the community. One of the main reasons of the successful of a majlis taklim was a good management implemented in its activities. This dissertation, entitled Management of Majlis Taklim in South Sumatera Province: A Study on Perception of Religious Teachers has three objectives: to identify management of majlis taklim in South Sumatra; to identify the views of religious teachers on practices in management functions, such as planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling activities of da’wah in majlis taklim; and to recognize problems in the management of majlis taklim. This study was conducted in five regencies / cities in South Sumatra, with a total of 92 respondents were religious teachers. Methodologies used in this study were questionnaires, interviews and observations. The study found that the management of majlis taklim in South Sumatra was organized by the Ministry of Religion of Regencies in South Sumatra Province. Majority of majlis taklim in regions of study was conducted in the mosque, and those who attended the majlis taklim activities were mostly female group. According to the views of religious teachers, management functions in the majlis taklim were performed well or satisfactory. However, there are still some of majlis taklim were not organized by good management. The main problems in the management of majlis taklim based on the perception of religious teachers are limited finance, lack of skilled human resources in the field of management and low support from their environment.
