Abstract

Economic development is an important to built in the state to develop a more so in the country development process, where economic development is considered as a powerful indicator to measure increases and overthrow of a country. Economic development can help the countries achieve development and progress that are meaningful. This study aimed to see the role performed by the Islamic preacher in economic development. This is because they are leader of the people, indirectly they are make an example of the Muslim community. Therefore, preachers need to relate themselves in economic activities to help enhance economic of Muslims. Preachers must also realize the importance of Islam to the progress of economic development of Muslims in the future. This study was conducted using descriptive method, ie by collecting data on economic activity preachers. The data were collected through the technical documentation, observation and interviews. The study found that the role of preachers in economic activities has been able to become role models in business activity, helping economic growth of society and also be able to assist people in generating income. Although there are some disadvantages, such as lack of capital, experience and support, but is seen very important role to enhance the economic development of society Medan Indonesia.
