Abstract
The process of educational reform has occupied a wide range of thinkers and scholars of the Islamic Ummah. Educational reform is the way through which the resumption of Islamic renaissance could be achieved. In addition, it also helps to get the Ummah away of dependency. Muhammad At-Tahir Ibn Ashour was among those scholars who have been trying to reform education. This research attempted to study Ashour’s educational thoughts through his book "Is it not the morning is soon?". This was through answering several questions which have been raised by the researcher that would lead to the desired propose of the study. The questions were as follows: Who is Muhammad At-Tahir Ibn Ashour? What was the historical context through which he developed his educational thought? What are the main concepts and values of Ashour’s educational thoughts which have been presented in his book? How did Ashour describe the history of education? How did Ashour contribute to the educational reform? And what were his axes? Investigating and researching these questions have led to the following findings: the crises from which Islamic nation suffer is an educational one. Its solution depends mainly on the validity and universal perception of the quality of the educational rights. The best vision and comprehensive approach for all human dimensions inclusive of spiritual, physical and moral is best depicted in Islam. Educational reform should focus on improving the situation of Muslim women. Preparing and nurturing Muslim women is of a great importance in building the strong and educated society. Educational reform must include three major elements: first, the reform of general educational system; second, the reform of curriculum, and third: care towards the teacher and their role in the educational process for the better foundation of education.
