Abstract

Ali Badron bin Mokhtar: Economic Thought of al-Imam al-Ghazalli in lhya' ulum al-Din.  The Study revolves around the development of Islamic economic thinking. The study specializes in the contribution of al-lmam al-Ghazali. In this matter, the writer tries to study the above thought based on text studies. This is done studying thoroughly the ihya' "Ulum al-Din, a book which is written by al-Imam al-Ghazali . To clarify the above matter, the background of the figure will be firstly reviewed from different angles. This is because, it gives a lot of influences on the pattern of thought and its principles which are forwarded by him. For this reason, the explanation of the background of al-lmc3m al-Ghazali is done in the first chapter. Islamic economic concept is explained in the second chapter as a foundation of the theory for this study. The third and fourth chapters will focus on the study of the book ihya' Ulum al-Din by surveying the contents especially to those which are related to the economic aspects. The analysis of the economic thought of al-Imam al-Ghazali is written in chapter four. The assumption of this study is al-lmam al-Ghazali has made an immense contribution in the development of the foundation of Islamic economy especially for Mazhab al -Shafi'i as told by him in ihya' 'Ulum al-Din.
