Abstract

The design and formative evaluation of self instructed module for the tajwid rule Nun Saklnah (Nun Mali) and Tanwin and Mim Saklnah (Mim Mati) in Pendidikan Islam KllSM 111e purpose of the research is to produce a self instructed module, which will act s a guidance for both teacher, and learners in the teaching and learning process. This module re!atcd to the Arabic Linguistic (tajwid), the rnle for Nun Sakinah (Nun Mati) and Tanwin and Mim Sakinah (Mim Mati). "This is in due to the fact that there is no specific method used teaching those rules. Generally, the proedure of th.is research has been divided into 3 catogaries: Firs~ to design and produce this module involved 5 phases which arc a) analysis, b) devclopmen~ c) design, d) evaluation, e) implementation. Tius module is based on the Dick and Carey methodology model. Second, in order to find out the effectiveness and suitability of the module a pilot formative assessment study was carried out. There were 20 students in the study and they consist of students with low level proficiency in the Arabic linguistic rule. Based on a diagnostic test that was carried out these are the students with marks 35% and below. Thirdly, the elicitation of data and inf orrnation was gathered through surveys and interviews. The findings from the pilot study shows that all students involved have improved in their comprehension and prificfoncy in the tajwid rule. Based on the post test of the pilot study, the students has shown an improvement 32.87% with thcmark being 59,56% for the post lest and 26.68% for the pre test. While tbc result for Mim Sakinah shows a high of 64. 50% in the post test as compared to 23.12% in the pre test with an improvement of 41.37%. Evidently, this rcflccLCJ that the self instructed module is suitable to be used as a teaching mat< .-rial and also for remedial classroom. iv
