The purpose of this study is to survey the paper used in trade book publishing in Malaysia. Based on the fields survey, several types of paper used in book publications has been identified. The internal and external factors will influence publishers to determine types of paper that will be used. The results of this study showed that woodfree paper of writing /printing paper category is the most type of paper used in book industries. This is based on the report of production, import and consumption of paper which was carried out by Malaysian Industries Development Autority (MIDA) and Malaysian Pulp and Paper Manufacturing Association (MPPMA).
