Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the personality profile of teachers in a secondary school. Based on the Leonard Personality Inventory (1999), the behavioral orientations of teachers were examined, using 50 samples from a school in Petaling Jaya. The findings of the study have shown that the teachers in the school were in the Neutral behavioral domain which highlights the teachers as agreeable, caring, easy­going and warm personalities. The findings also indicate that there were eight behavioral orientations: (i) Analytical + Neutral, (ii) Neutral + Relational, (iii) Neutral, (iv) Openness + Neutral, (v) Openness, (vi) Relational, (vii) Relational + Openness, and (viii) Openness + Analytical + Relational. Case studies on each behavioral orientations highlighted the strengths and weaknesses and the personality's interactional predispositions. The behavioral styles in the teachers, using protocol interviews and observation are discussed in the review of case studies. In the final chapter, a comparison between the behavioral orientations and their interactional predispositions are discussed in length.
