Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers' evaluation on a Web-based Mathematics learning method for the topic "Set". The study focused on the learning activities and the six links in an online learning template designed for Mathematics learning. The study was conducted in the form of a workshop. A total of 18 teachers from 9 secondary schools were selected as the sample in this study. Data was collected through questionnaire and checklist. Overall, the findings in this study indicated that teachers held positive view towards the use of Web-based Mathematics learning method for the topic .. Set". A majority of the teachers agreed that the activities were able to bring about active learning, that is to encourage cooperative and collaborative learning, experiential learning, and reflective learning. Most of the teachers agreed that all the links would benefit students. In terms of the suitability of the links, most teachers had the opinion that the links were more suitable for high ability students and that they are to be used outside formal class hours as supplementary activities. The teachers rated the lesson content and the elements in the website as satisfactory, except for the downloading time. Teachers' comments with regards to the strengths and weaknesses of this method were encouraging. Their comments will serve as guidelines for future planning and implementation of this Web-based learning method. Discussions concerning implications towards the importance of Web-based teaching and learning processes and the potential of Web-based learning environment are included.
