Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between job satisfaction with work itself, remuneration, promotion, supervision, co-worker and period of service amongst the SJK( C) teachers in K.L. This study also attempts to determine if difference in job satisfaction exists between job satisfaction with respect to gender, academic qualification, marital status and social recognition of the subjects. The subjects of the study are 320 SJK(C) teachers who are selected by using the group random sampling, from a total of 1888 SJK(C) teachers in K.L. The Job Descriptive Index which has been modified in accordance with the local culture by Majid Konting (1990) is used as the measurement tool. Data are analyzed by SPSS PC+. Both descriptive (frequency, percentage, mean and median) and inferential (T-Test and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient) statistics are used to test ten hypotheses at the .05 significant level. Results indicates that there is no significant difference between job satisfaction and gender, t (320) = - .09, p < .93, job satisfaction and academic qualification, t (320) = . 75, p < .45 and job satisfaction and marital status, t (320) =.76, p< . .45. However, the study indicates that there is a significant difference between job satisfaction and social recognition, t (320) = -6.41, p< .00. This research study also indicates that there is a significant relationship between job satisfaction with work itself, r (320) = . 77, p < .00, job satisfaction with remuneration, r (320) = .37, p < .00, job satisfaction with promotion, r (320) = .60, p< .00, job satisfaction with supervision, r (320) = .75, p < .00, job satisfaction with co-worker, r (320) == .66, p < .00. Nevertheless, the study indicates that there is no significant relationship between job satisfaction with period of service, r (320) = .05, p < .40. In view of the findings, few implications and suggestions are put forward.
