Abstract
The focus of this study was to identify the effectiveness of multimedia based teaching and learning tools in the Moral Knowledge subject among form five students in a secondary school in Kuala Lumpur. In order to run the study, a diskette containing Moral Knowledge programs which was especially designed in accordance with current and local foreign issues was provided to be utilized in the teaching and learning sessions. The study consisted of teaching and learning via the use of CO-ROM as the main teaching tool for four hours. The approach to the teaching and learning were based on five issues, each issue was related to a moral value that was related, followed by a simulation, documentation or a recording of photographs. After this exercise, the students can opt to answer the questions provided and check the answer. Additional resource materials were also provided in the CD-ROM program. The study involved 50 students who were selected randomly from seven form five classes in the school. A pre-test paper was distributed to each sample before the teaching and learning session with the CD-ROM was conducted. At the end of the three and a half hour teaching and learning session. a post-test paper was given out to the samples. The data was then compiled by the researcher using a set of questionnaire. The finding proves that there is a positive change in the performance of the sample students in the school through the use of multimedia based teaching and learning materials. In conclusion, a majority of the form five students were very interested in using multimedia based teaching and learning materials. In addition, the post test results as against the pre-test results show that there is a positive change in the performance of the students.
