Abstract
The purpose of this study is to help a selected group of low proficiency learners enjoy reading. This study will further investigate what particular reading strategies arc effective for the students and further examine to what extent reading can improve the writing of these learners. The study revealed that the informants enjoyed reading and the use of reading strategies enhanced their understanding of what they read It also showed that prior reading can improve writing performance.
