Abstract
The Law Library of the University of Malaya uses the Los Angeles County Law Library scheme of classification. The scheme was however found to be unsuitable for local conditions and needs. In this article the author informs of the special system of location symbols, which she devised to distinguish the various forms of legal materials. A subject classification for legal textbooks was also devised. This system has been successfully used in the Law Library, University of Malaya since 1975. Several other local libraries have also started using this system for their collection of legal materials.
