Abstract

Twelve adults-seven with nephrotic syndrome due to proliferative glomerulonephritis and five with persistent proliferative glomerulonephritis-were given prednisolone alone, or in combination with azathioprine or with azathioprine and cyclophosphamide. Prednisolone alone or with azathioprine did not produce remission but on the combined prednisolone/azathioprine/cyclophosphamide treatment ten patients recovered completely. No serious toxic reactions to this regimen were ob served. Triple-drug therapy seems to interfere with the immune process more effectively than double therapy. © 1971.
