Bibliometric and content analysis on publications in digitization technology implementation in cultural heritage for recent five years (2016–2021)

Abstract

The adoption of digitization technology in cultural heritage fields is well-documented. The investigation on the research publications for digitization technology implementation in the cultural heritage field via bibliometric analysis can offer comprehensive reports. The scientific literature from Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus with a timespan between 2016 and 2021 is comprehensively overviewed using bibliometric analysis. Biblioshiny package in the RStudio tool is used to analyse the collected documents quantitatively and qualitatively. 809 articles from WoS and Scopus are quantitatively analysed based on the documents, words, sources. While the qualitative analysis is based on the most cited documents. The findings from this research can introduce new topics to answer the research gaps associated with the implementation of digitization technology in cultural heritage fields. The recommendations offered for further research can establish and strengthen the outputs and outcomes quality of digital cultural heritage. © 2022
