Effect of polyvinyl alcohol coating microbottle resonator for sodium hypochlorite concentration sensing

Abstract
This research paper explored whispering gallery modes through polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) coated microbottle resonator (MBR) as a sodium hypochlorite sensor. The silica fiber SMF-28 has been used to form the MBR by a technique called ``soften-and-compress''. Three parameters for the MBR size name as bottle length Lb, stem diameter of Ds and bottle diameter of Db. The MBR than coated with PVA and formed three different sizes named A, B and C. The MBR-PVA coupled with tapered microfiber 2 mu m diameter and manage to have Q-factor > 105 respectively. The sodium hypochlorite with concentrations range from 1% pmm to 6% pmm, which is then used with three MBR-PVA sizes as sodium hypochlorite sensor for study purposes. The performance of the MBRPVA defined as excellent, with sensitivity analyzed through transmitted power and wavelength shifting. The linearity for all MBR-PVA size can have >98%, which is defined as good performance after all. The stability testing and repeatability cycle showed by these MBR-PVA so promising as sodium hypochlorite sensor.
