Abstract

This article discusses a new teaching approach that is in line with the latest education that focuses onstudent -centered learning. This approach toteaching Differentiated Instruction is in line withImam Ibn Sahnun's thinking on the importance ofteacher teaching that focuses on student learningstyle and justice to all students regardless of theirlevel of ability and capability in the classroom. Thisapproach is an appropriate paradigm shift inresponding to the call of the Ministry of EducationMalaysia in fulfilling the objectives of theMalaysian Education Development Plan 2013-2025 which is to close the achievement gap amongstudents and the expectations of the Ministry ofEducation Malaysia in the release letter number 14of 2018 which states teacher evaluation to pupilsare holistic (Ministry of Education Malaysia,2018). Differentiated Instruction is a relevantteaching method and suitable for use in teachingbecause it has a teaching aspect that involves all students without differentiating between studentswhether the students have excellent, moderate, orpoor level of learning mastery. This article focuseson the philosophy of Differentiated Instructionwhich emphasizes on the learning style of studentsand also the thinking of Imam Ibn Sahnun whoemphasizes on the teaching of teachers who shouldgive justice to all students regardless of thebackground of students and so on and should be themethod of teaching Differentiated Instruction veryappropriately used in teaching to diverse pupils © 2021, Global Journal Al-Thaqafah.
