Abstract

The contributions to this publication examine several important issues concerning the operations of multinationals (MNCs) and their impact - both potential and actual - on technology and localization in the automotive industry in selected Asian economies. While Japan and Korea have managed to develop mature integrated automotive operations at the technology frontier, the other economies are still strongly immersed in catching up. Automotives play an important role in the economic activities of all the selected countries through exports and production.
