Abstract
Successful leadership is not the result of simply obtaining a position, but rather possessing the knowledge and understanding of successful leadership skills along with the personal ability to effectively implement those skills. Hence, "School leaders need impressive skills to provide effective leadership in our diverse school environments”. However Leadership is not a concept for self but it should be rightly perceived by followers. This study compares perception of school principals on their own leadership attributes and as perceived by their teachers. Self developed questionnaire titled My Attributes & Attribute of My Principal was used as tool and administered over 178 teachers and 18 principals from Secondary School in Malaysia. Independent sample t test was conducted on the data, which revealed a significant difference between perceptions of principals on their leadership, attributes and perception of teachers on attributes of their principal.
