Development of consumer credit laws in Malaysia

Abstract

Consumer Credit is a branch of Commercial Law, which has been developing in recent years in Malaysia. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the latest amendments in the consumer credit laws in Malaysia and to highlight its significance. The discussion will be limited to the three most important laws of consumer credit in Malaysia: the hire-purchase, money lending and pawn broking laws.
