Abstract

In this study, “Surah AL-Rahamn : Rhetoric Study’,” the researcher reviewed the difference between the ‘ Tafseer’ and ‘Ta’weel’ of the Holy Quran . In our time, the difference has almost disappeared, and it is only seen in the scientific studies or researches. The researcher also discussed the trends and types of ‘Tafseer’. Chapter two, particularly, shows the rhetoric trend: the concept, the inception as well as the stages form the era of Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H) and his noble companions, the precedent scholars, and Imam Muhammed Abduh’s school of thought, which has had the greatest impact on the Sharia studies, in general, and the Qur’anic ones, in particular. The chapter ends by mentioning the effects of the contemporary scholars and their role in this field. In chapter three, the researcher, briefly and precisely, defined Surah Al-Rahamn and illustrated the most important aspects included in the Surah. Moreover, the researcher reviewed the difference among scholars pertaining to whether this Surah is Maki or Madni, and supported the former based on the Surah style and themes included in it. Generally, the researcher studied the main themes in the Surah. In the fourth and the last chapter, essence of the research, the researcher studied the Surah rhetorically by using main means such as “Similarity of utterances (words)” ( Att-shabuh Alafthzi) in the Surah . The researcher compared such utterances (words) in the Suarh to each other as well as to others included in other Suwar of the Holy Qur’an. The researcher also studied a number of these utterances (Alfathz) in the Surah, selected according to inimitability of Holy Qura’n in selecting utterances (Alfathz). Furthermore, the researcher reviewed the ‘Taqdeem’, (aforementioned), “Ta’kher’ (post-mentioned), ‘stating’ (Thikr), and ‘omission’, (Hathf) in the Surah, without further details on Rhetoric. In the last part of the research, the researcher studied the Quranic method pertaining to the repetition in the Holy Qura’n : the concept, types , purposes , and the difference among scholars in its definition and essence . Then, the researcher studied the repetition in the Suarh and presented other examples from other Suwar of the Holy Qura’n. In the end, the conclusions and recommendations of the research were presented.
