Abstract

This study examines the relationship between Locus of Control and the intention of being an entrepreneur among Malaysian graduates. This study first investigate the effect of Locus of Control on the intention to become an entrepreneur among 100 of respondents, as measured by statistical testing on answered survey questionnaire. Further, this study extends the analysis by examining the relationship between ethnic group and the intention of being an entrepreneur among Malaysian graduates. The results showed no significant relationship between ethnic group and the intention of being an entrepreneur among Malaysian graduates. This study also examined the relation between gender and the intention of being an entrepreneur among Malaysian graduates. The result of this study shows a significant relationship between gender and the intention of being an entrepreneur. This study found that male Malaysian graduates have higher intention to become an entrepreneur as compared to female Malaysian graduates. Although this study did not further confirm the research studies by the previous researcher that Internal Locus of Control has positive effect on the intention of being an entrepreneur, it does provide a picture of the Locus of Control and the intention of being an entrepreneur among Malaysian graduates. To a great extent, our future economic well-being hinges on the quality of our entrepreneurs.
