Abstract
This is a case study carried out on three secondary school students studying in form four. Its aim is to see the influence of peer group, school and family with regard to Indian Students' indiscipline. Data was obtained by semi-structured interviewing with the said participants, teachers and parents. Additional information was obtained by referring to the Student's Attendance Register, exercise books and examination results of the students. The findings are as follows: 1. Peer group influence plays an important part in bringing about disciplinary problems among students. Secondary school students prefer to waste their free time with their peer group by carrying out non-beneficial activities. 2. The school authorities did not take the necessary steps to overcome discipline problems of Indian students. Other than punishing them they did not attempt any other ways of overcoming the Students' indiscipline. 3. Weakness in Bahasa Melayu had caused students to lose interest and made it difficult for them to study and hence caused them to ivolve in problems of discipline. The school authorities could not overcome this problem. 4. Parents did not pay attention to their children's education and did not try to overcome their children's indiscipline but depended on the school authorities in this matter. 5. Mothers of the participants were found to pamper their children by allowing them more freedom to involve themselves in disciplinary problems. The parents did not spend enough time with their children to discuss their problems. This caused them to be detached and so involve themselves in indiscipline activities. 6. Peer group, school and family influence are inter-related and hence play a very important role in bringing about disciplinary problems among the participants.
