Abstract
Presently, many parents are neglecting their children’s early Islamic education due to limited knowledge in the importance of teaching aqidah to their children from birth. Parents lack in the knowledge of content of what to impart to their children and the most suitable approaches to teach in order to make them understand better. Thus, this research will discuss the basic of aqidah and the approaches of teaching for children between ages of 0 - 7 years. This research will focus on the concept of aqidah in general, followed by explanation about children’s development according to Islamic view and the choice of the appropriate content about the basis of aqidah and the application of the most suitable approaches towards early childhood education.The methodology used in this research is focusing on library research. Based on the research which has been carried out,early childhood Islamic education is deem fundamental in the education process especially in the teaching of Aqidah. Importance has to be given to the choice of suitable content based on the child’s mentality and physiological development. Parents can use various types of the identified approaches to teach or inculcate Aqidah to their children. A variety of approaches enables parents to use different methods according to each and every individual’s capability. The identified approaches are also selective in nature, thus making it easier for parents to choose or decide the most appropriate approaches to evaluate their children’s understanding. Therefore, the outcame of this research aims to solve problems faced. The implication from this research aims to provided parents and all parties involved a guideline to enhance the interpretation of Aqidah in early childhood education. In addition, this research can be utilized by various institutions which majors in the teaching and learning of Aqidah.
