Abstract

Youth development programmes are vital in this country. The youth are an essential asset and will be the future leader for ummah and country. They will inherit this country's leadership, society and civilisation. Therefore, they have to be equipped with spiritual and physical capabilities. In order to achieve the above vision the Department of Youth and Sport Federal Territories bas come out with several proggrammes. The question is, how effective are these proggrames among the youth. As a whole, this study is to measure the effectiveness of the efforts taken by the respective Department. The objectives of the extent of programmes provided by the Department, second, the participation among the youth, and third, to goin in formation on the benefit of these proggrammes. The study was divided into five chapters. First, on the background of youth in Malaysia, second, the development of their personalities, third, the programmes provided by the respective department, fourth, the effectiveness of those proggrammes, and finally, the fifth chapter on conclusions and suggestions. The respondents for the study are those who resided in Kuala Lumpur which covered 10 Parliamentary Constituencies. The interview consisted of 15 questions which are directed through three activities. The random sampling method was used upon the respondents. A total of 250 questionnaires were distributed and 175 were able to be collected. As a result, they agreed that the proggrammes put forward by the respective Department have indeed benefited them in several aspects including knowledge, ibadat, society and morality.
